| The super-talented
Kody Norris filled in for Tim as host this evening.
After kicking things off by leading us in the "Pledge To
The Flag", he got right down to business by performing
the wonderful
Mac Wiseman tune "I Wonder How The Old Folks Are
At Home". |

This week we were scheduled to have both String Fever
and Jim Gates & the Key Keepers, but String Fever was
unable to make it so Jim and the gang stepped up and played
several extra numbers for us.
The Key Keepers are known for playing classic country, and
they performed a number of old favorites including "Today
I Burned Your Old Love Letters" penned by
Johnny Bond, "Green, Green Grass of Home"
probably the most successful song recorded by
Porter Wagoner,
and "The Three Bells" made popular by
The Browns in 1959. They even treated the crowd to
the
Carter Family classic
"Wildwood Flower"!
Marilyn Gates wrote a wonderful gospel song entitled
"It's A Beautiful Morning" which is featured on their
current CD. Contact the
Mountain Music Museum and Gift Shop on the lower level
of the Bristol Mall by phone at 276-645-0035 or email us at
giftshop@mountainmusicmuseum.org
to find out more.
The group consists of a husband and wife team from Duffield,
Virginia: Jim Gates... |

| and a pair of brothers from Kingsport, Tennessee:
Horace Egan... |

| Jim asked his old friend John Proffit to join
them on stage. John is quite famous in these parts as he
played with the band The Virginia Gentlemen. |

| We 'd like to thank "Mr. Bluegrass" Kody Norris
for helping out tonight. Kody and his
Watuaga Mountain Boys will be at
The Carter Fold this Saturday, January 19, 2008 and
at Heritage Hall on Saturday, January 26. Heritage Hall is
located on College Street in Kody's hometown of Mountain
City, TN. Call 1-423-727-7444 for ticket information. You
can learn more about this talented young performer at

Well, that ends another music-filled Thursday evening
here at The Pickin' Porch. Come by next week when
Slim Pickins.
