| Welcome to this weeks Pickin' Porch Show. Believe
it or not, after nearly two months our Bluegrass Buddy
Tim White returned as our host. Tim led everyone in the
"Pledge To The Flag" and asked that we remember all
the men and women that are serving our country. |

We started with a downright fantastic classic and new
country band called Old Dogs New Tricks from right
here in the Birthplace of Country Music region. The
band members included Ken Dugger, Keith Oliver,
Frank Perry and Wes Perry. They picked and
sang classic standards such as "Hello Darlin'" and
"Don't be Cruel" as well as new hits like "Long Black
Train" and "Almost Home".
Old Dogs New Tricks will be at the Birthplace of Country
Music Mural in downtown Bristol on Thursday, October
18th. Check out their web site for all sorts of information
at
www.olddogs-newtricks.7h.com. |

| At "halftime" Tommy Shortt agreed to play a
couple of tunes for us. He played two songs that he co-wrote
with friend CW Dotson: "Blue & Lonely Night"
and "The Nashville Song". If you're interested in
getting one of Tommy's CDs you can purchase them at the
Mountain Music Gift Shop or on-line at
www.bluegrassstore.com. Tommy was recently featured on
the noon show on WCYB TV 5. |

The second half of tonight's entertainment was a group
from the Salem, Virginia area with two familiar Pickin'
Porch faces joining them. The Dixie Bluegrass Boys
and friends are comprised of Jason Skinner, David
Cannaday, Jeremy Stephens, Daniel Cannaday,
Zayn Skinner, Ivan Sexton and Jerry
Steinberg.
These guys played like they have been together for years
although they live a couple hundred miles apart! We heard
"Going Down This Road Feelin' Bad, "Peach Pickin'
Time In Georgia" and my personal favorite "Rawhide"
(a specialty of Zayn Skinner) If you want to hear more about
the Dixie Bluegrass Boys log on to
www.soundstopmusic.com. |

Well folks we've come to the end of another Pickin'
Porch performance. Please remember all of our awesome
sponsors and don't forget about the special Song of the
Mountains presentation on Friday, November 16th at
7:00pm. Featured in the show will be Rhonda Vincent,
Nothin' Fancy, and Williams & Clark Expedition.
This show will be taped for national broadcast on PBS. Go to
www.songofthemountains.org for ticket information.
Next week Two Step, a bluegrass and country band from
Elizabethton, Tennessee will be here. Come on out to the
Comfort Systems USA Performance Center located in the
Bristol Mall and see what all the fun is about.
