Highlights from November 1, 2007
Tim White our "Bluegrass Buddy" hosted this week's show and lead the audience in the "Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag".

Our featured band this week was The VW Boys: Dave Vaught from Bristol, TN on guitar, Larry McPeak from Wytheville, VA on bass and Tim White of Blountville, TN on banjo.

These fellows are known for their urbane musical talents as well as a show full of comedy and magic. Remember to stop by and see Dave Vaught at Top Hat Magic Supply in downtown Bristol, TN for all your magic supply needs.

Highlighted tonight were tunes like "Little Cabin Home On The Hill", "Spinning Wheel", and "Building On That Rock" written by Larry McPeak.

The guys asked Charlie Holiday from Glade Spring, VA to come up and pick a few songs with them. Charlie is a crowd favorite here at the Pickin' Porch and he entertained the spectators with a number of bluegrass melodies.

Here at the Pickin' Porch you never know what might happen next. While the band took a short break, three young folks named Chris, Huey, and Dustin pleased the crowd with their version of the Soggy Bottom Boys' "Man of Constant Sorrow".

In his usual unique style, Ed Carter, our resident "storyteller", recounted some fascinating yarns.

We also welcomed Hannah to the stage for a moving rendition of "Breathe", a song made famous by ASCAP award winner Anna Nalick.

That's the end of another jam packed Thursday here at The Pickin' Porch Show. See you next week when we'll have Lonesome Will Mullins and Bill and Maggie Anderson as our musical guests.

Also, please remember the Song of the Mountains show coming up on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 7:00pm at the Lincoln Theatre in beautiful downtown Marion, VA. This outstanding show will feature Nothin' Fancy, Williams & Clark Expedition and Bluegrass superstar Rhonda Vincent live in concert, and it will be taped for national broadcast on PBS television.
