from November 8, 2007 |
| Welcome to our weekly get-together at the Pickin'
Porch in the Bristol Mall in Bristol Virginia. Tim
started the show off in usual fashion by leading the
audience in the "Pledge To The Flag". He also
reminded us to always remember our heroes in uniform because
thanks to their unselfish efforts we live in the greatest
country in the world. |

We have several concerts and happenings coming up in the
next couple of months. On November 16, 2007 the long awaited
Song of the Mountains program will be taped showcasing
special guests
Rhonda Vincent and the Rage,
Nothin' Fancy, and
Williams & Clark Expedition. The Song of the
Mountains continues it's series with a Christmas Show on
Saturday, December 15, 2007.
Christmas in the Smokies with The Larkins Bluegrass
Festival will be on December 6,7,& 8 at the Ramada Inn's
Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
A few featured bands include
The Lewis Family,
Bobby
Osborne, and
The VW Boys.
On Sunday, January 6, 2008, the
Mountain Music Museum and Gift Shop located in the
Bristol Mall will host the unveiling of a new exhibit from
Curly Seckler best known as one of the Foggy
Mountain Boys. Stay tuned for further information.
Bill and Maggie Anderson of Woodlawn, Virginia
started the musical part of the show tonight. They began
with a rip roarin' version of "Wabash Canonball" and
ended with "Brush Arbor Meeting", a wonderful gospel
number that had the crowd singing along. Bill is a
well-known luthier, and in fact he built the dobro that
Maggie plays and the guitar he played during part of
their segment of tonight's program. |

Our "halftime" entertainers were an assortment of
musicians and singers. There was Ingrid Sauter and
her son Danny Sauter who were visiting from Canada.
You can check out their website at
www.forgetmenots.ca.
The other two guys you've probably seen on many occasions if
you're a regular around here.
Teddy
Helton and
Tim
White are huge supporters of bluegrass music, and
they work very hard to promote the musical heritage of this
region. Thanks for all you do! They picked several numbers
including two written by Danny Sauter and one co-written by
our very own Blanard Collins. |

Lonesome Will and The Virginia Playboys finished the
show with lots of energy. Some of the Playboys weren't able
to make tonight's show but "Slick" Mullins and
Duran Dutton (both from Russell County, Virginia) didn't
disappoint the crowd.
They cranked out rockin' renditions of "Gotta Do My Time"
and "Sunny Side Of The Mountain". Will sang a
haunting version of "Long Black Veil" and treated the
audience to "I Got A Mule To Ride" that had 'em
dancing. |

| To round out the show, Will and his Playboys were joined
onstage by Tim White and Danny Sauter. The gang treated the
audience to the spectacular gospel number "Leaning On The
Everlasting Arms". |

Well, that ends this weeks Pickin' Porch Show.
Join us next week when
The Skinner Family will be here. Take care and God
Bless.
