| This special show for the Heritage in Music Program
in Bluff City, TN, was opened by "Your Bluegrass Buddy"
Tim
White. Tim led the audience in the “Pledge To The
Flag". Heritage in Music is a non-profit program that
teaches young children to play stringed instruments and is
funded, except for benefit shows, by Danny Minton and
his family. Their purpose is to teach young people
Appalachian/Acoustic music in a Christian based atmosphere.
All proceeds from this show will help the Minton family
defer the costs of instruments, insurance costs, etc. |

Mark Barnett, accompanied by
Teddy
Helton on bass, got the show going with his fine
banjo playing. He sang “Flint Hill Special” and
“Old Rambling Gambler".
The
ACMA could not operate without the help of many people
who give their time freely. Tonight we wanted to honor a few
of those people. The honorees were Mike Albano,
Accountant, Pat Graham, Attorney, James and
Barbara Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Rouse,
webmasters, Harry Esenwine, the Bristol Mall General
Manager (now retired), and Ray Parlier of
Chick-fil-A.
Tomahawk took the stage with the lively tune
“Blackberry Blossom”, featuring fiddler Leanne
Dynneson. They have just recorded a new CD with the help
of Tom T. and Dixie Hall. “High Lonesome Love”
written by Dixie is on the CD. Also on the CD is “Game
They Call Love” which was written and sang by Janine
Broyles. "Ghost Riders in the Sky” is always a
crowd pleaser and Tomahawk certainly delivered. Eric
Bowman took over on banjo and sang our favorite love
song “Tennessee Hound Dog". |

Next the jam session started. Mark Mervis invited
friends who love to play and give their time willingly for a
good cause and the Heritage in Music Program is just that
cause. All these entertainers started at a young age and
some are not that old now.
We had Charlie Powers, Rick Powers, Bobby
Love, Kevin Love, Tony Collins, Lester
Parks, Hal Boyd, Ronnie Rasnick, Tim
Laughlin, Matt Osborne, Randy Jackson,
Kevin Jackson, Glenn Harlow, Eric McMurray,
Rachel Johnson, Robby Spencer, Teddy Helton,
Erin Minton, Jessie Minton, Danny Minton,
and Garrett Minton.
The entertainers took the stage in groups and sang such
favorites as “Rose of Old Kentucky”, “First Day I
Met You”, “I Know My Lord is Gonna Set Me Free”,
“Wild Bill Jones”, “Sea of Heartbreak”,
“Love is Like a Flower”, “Ragtime Annie” and
“John Henry”. |

| The Minton Family took the stage along with
Zack McCrackin, and sang several songs. One of the
favorites is “How Mountain Girls Can Love“. |

Think it can’t get any better? Well, it did. Next, the
Heritage in Music Children took the stage. One by one
they took the stage and played their solos. There was
Sean, Nathan, Rachel, Logan,
Colby, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth,
Sarah, Summer, Daniel, Caleb,
Jeff, Amber, Sarah, Zeb, J.D.,
Jordan, Hunter, Molly, Chandra, and
Nathan.
They played numerous Christmas Carols, “Wildwood
Flower”, and “Amazing Grace”. The kids' ages
range from 7 to 17 so we've sure got a lot to look forward
to in the years to come! |

Melinda Davis is a terrific songwriter.
“Mary’s Precious Gift” is one of her songs which she
performed last night.
The Brookside Quartet ended the show with “When
Gods Children Get Home”. If you weren’t there, you
missed a terrific show.
Next week Old Dogs New Tricks and Bethesda
Bluegrass Boys will be on the Pickin' Porch
stage. Come on out and join us!
