Highlights from December 27, 2007
Welcome back to The Pickin' Porch Show. As always, Tim kicked off the evening's festivities by leading the audience in the "Pledge to the Flag" - and then he got right down to business! This week we had two wonderful bands lined up for our final get-together of 2007.

Tim and Andrew

A great classic and new country band called Old Dogs New Tricks from Bristol TN/VA started the show off with standards such as the 1970 Conway Twitty smash hit "Hello Darlin'", "All I Have To Do Is Dream", a popular Everly Brothers tune from 1958, and "Pretty Woman", a worldwide hit in 1964 for the late, great Roy Orbison. The band members include Ken Dugger, Keith Oliver, Frank Perry and Wes Perry.

Old Dogs New Tricks

Old Dogs New Tricks took a well-deserved break while the Bethesda Bluegrass Boys treated us to the great old Bluegrass staple "Little Maggie" and a wonderful medley featuring "Ole Joe Clark", "Bluegrass Breakdown" and "Cripple Creek". Then they finished up their set with a bang by playing a fantastic rendition of "The Mississippi Squirrel Revival".

These guys hail from Durham, North Carolina, and they were passing through Bristol on their way to Nashville, TN in order to attend the Ruritan National Convention where they are scheduled to play next week. The band consists of father Mark on guitar, 14 year old Caleb on bass, 12 year old Jackson on banjo, and 10 year old Conner on mandolin.

The Bethesda Boys

After taking a few minutes to rest, Old Dogs New Tricks retook the stage. The guys did several original songs, including "She Don't Miss A Thing" which was penned by Kim Williams who has co-written many country music hits including "3 Wooden Crosses", the touching inspirational ballad performed by Randy Travis that took home the "Song of the Year" award in 2004.

Well folks, that's about it for 2007! Please have a safe and happy New Year, and be sure to come back and see us again next year. Our first band of 2008 will be 8 to 5 Southbound. God Bless and take care!
