| This week
Mr. Bluegrass Kody Norris filled in for Tim White.
Tim had a wonderful reason for being absent other than it
being Valentines Day: he is on his way to Nashville to play
his banjo on The
Grand Ole Opry! Congratulations Tim - make
us proud! |

After Kody lead the audience in the "Pledge To The
Flag", he called some of his friends up onto the stage
to help him entertain the crowd. Mike Goodman of
Saltville, Virginia played banjo for the group tonight. You
would normally see Mike perform with the well-known local
band
Fescue, and he also owns Goodman Jewelers in
Chilhowie, Virginia. Visit Mike for some fine banjo pickin'
or some fine jewelry at
GoodmanJewelers.biz.
Jordan Blevins sawed on his amazing fiddle for this
evening's show. Jordan hails from Marion, Virginia, and he
also plays along with Mike and the boys of the Fescue band.
Jordan has been playing music since he was just five years
old. His uncle is Larry Blevins, a pre-eminent
musician who is known for his Bill Monroe style
mandolin playing. Larry has been with the Virginia
Mountain Boys since it's inception in 1964. His mandolin
licks left everyone asking for a whole lot more!
Crowd favorite
Teddy
Helton stepped in to play bass for Kody tonight. If
you don't know Teddy then you're really missing out. He's a
great guy, a wonderful friend, and about the best you'll
find when it comes to playing the bass. Teddy, who resides
in Bristol, is an integral member of the fantastic
Appalachian/Celtic band Fire in the Kitchen as well
as Fast Train, a local bluegrass band. |

Last but, certainly not least, is Mr. Kody Norris.
Kody was the host, lead singer, guitar picker, and
designated pitchman for this week's Pickin' Porch Show.
He makes his home in Mountain City, Tennessee, but he
travels all around the country making some fine Bluegrass
music. This weekend he and
The Watauga Mountain Boys will be performing in Two
Rivers, Wisconsin at the local high school. This concert is
being promoted by BK Promotions.
You might see any one of these guys at the Chilhowie Lions
Club in the beautiful town of Chilhowie Virginia on Monday
evenings. Folks get together to pick, sing and dance there
every week. Check out their website at
www.smythcountyjam.com.
Well, that tops off another evening here at The Pickin'
Porch. Be sure to drop by next week when the
Zephyr Lightning Bolts from Zephyr, North Carolina
are scheduled to take the stage.
