Hosted by Tim White

Highlights from February 22, 2007
The evening's festivities got underway with Tim leading the audience in the "Pledge To The Flag", followed by a quick reminder about the upcoming Leon Kiser Memorial Tribute Show and Song Of The Mountains.

Tim also explained that the "bucket money" that is collected each week goes towards paying the light bill for the Comfort Systems USA Performance Center with the balance helping fund the cost of keeping the Mountain Music Museum in operation at no cost to the public.

Bill Sherrill of Mr. Bill and Bodie fame kicked off an evening of non-stop entertainment by putting on a delightful magic show with the help of four young volunteers from the audience - one of which ended up losing his underwear as part of the "act"!

Bill and the kids

After Mr. Bill's magic had wowed everyone in the auditorium, the kids made way for Bodie, a seven year old piano-playing Havanese who stole the show right out from under his two-legged partner! Bill and Bodie make a great team, and they do great work visiting schools in order to help kids eliminate bullying.

Next up was Addie Keen and Friends, a fine group of singers and musicians who treated the audience to two sets of Classic Country music with a distinctive Bluegrass sound. Addie and the guys brought back plenty of great memories as they performed songs made famous by a number of Traditional and Country singers including The Carter Family, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells and others.

Addie's outstanding performances of all those great classic country hits gave the Pickin' Porch Dancers plenty of opportunities to get out on the dance floor, and they did just that on several occasions!

Next, the always hilarious Ed Carter took the stage to deliver a couple of jokes that quickly had the audience laughing out loud. In fact, they started laughing before the jokes even began because he decided to show Tim his "ape" imitation.

Mr. Roy Mullins was back again this week to play "Corina, Corina" on his trusty harmonica. Roy doesn't hear all that well so Tim sometimes has a difficult time getting him up on the stage, but once he's there he plays his heart out. Thanks a lot, Roy! We really appreciate your dedication to the Pickin' Porch Show!

Tommy Shortt also returned to the Pickin' Porch stage to pick and sing a couple of very pretty songs as a follow-up to his previous performance from a few months back. It's easy to see that Tommy loves to perform, and as before he was a big hit with the crowd.

The action was non-stop at the Pickin' Porch tonight as a steady stream of great music and comedy emanated from the busy stage. Next week Daryl Webb comes to town, and his shows are always simply outstanding. But don't take my word for it - come on out to the Bristol Mall next Thursday evening at 7:00 and see for yourself what all the excitement is about!
