Highlights from the last Pickin' Porch Show
As always, Hughey arrived at the Comfort Systems USA Performance Center quite early in order to claim his usual front row seat. Hughey is one of the Pickin' Porch Show's most loyal fans, and it's great to see him sitting up front and enjoying the festivities each and every week!

After leading the audience in the "Pledge to the Flag", Tim kicked off tonight's show by welcoming all the visiting race fans in the audience and asking them to stand up and introduce themselves to the rest of the crowd. As always during race week, there were friendly folks visiting with us from all over the United States.

Tim also took a few moments to remind everyone about the April 7 edition of Song Of The Mountains featuring the legendary Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers with Jeff Brown & Friends.

Next, Tim asked Jim Carter to come up on stage and tell everyone about the upcoming "Pickin' in the Corn" Bluegrass Festival featuring E.C. Miller & the Goldrush Review. E.C. is a bluegrass legend who has been pickin' and teachin' the banjo for decades, and this is an excellent opportunity for folks in our area to see him perform, live and in-person!

The ETSU Bluegrass Band kicked off the evening's entertainment, and as always they did an outstanding job pickin' and singin' a number of great tunes including "You Win Again", "This World Is Not My Home" and the classic "Don't Cheat In Our Hometown".

Raymond McLain and the other wonderful instructors and mentors at ETSU do an outstanding job of teaching their students in the Bluegrass Music program how to be exceptional performers, and it really shows every time one of their featured bands takes a stage!

Next up was Mr. Roy Mullins, a Pickin' Porch regular and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Roy has been around a long time, and he really knows how to express himself with his ever-present harmonica. In keeping with the season, tonight he treated the audience to a very nice rendition of "Easter Parade".

Also in keeping with the season, the Easter Bunny paid a visit to the Comfort Systems USA Performance Center. To the delight of the kids in the audience (and most of the adults as well), he ran back and forth in front of the stage as the bewildered band played on.

As if there hadn't already been enough action to keep the audience on the edge of their seats this evening, the jovial Ed Carter took the stage and proceeded to tell a series of corny jokes that, well...let's just say that Ed sure has a unique style of delivering a joke and leave it at that!

The ever-popular Robby Spencer returned to the Pickin' Porch stage after a long absence, and it quickly became obvious that he still knows how to entertain a crowd! In between jokes, he picked and sang several "Robby" favorites including "The Suicide Blues", "Frankie And Johnny" and "Mountain Dew". He even treated the audience to a couple of Hank Williams and Elvis classics!

As always, a great time was had by all at tonight's Pickin' Porch Show, and next week promises to be just as much fun with Bill & Maggie Anderson and Gold Heart taking the stage. We invite you to come on out to the Bristol Mall next Thursday and join us for all the fun and excitement!
