Highlights
from March 27, 2008 |
| Tonight's Pickin Porch Show began with guest host
Chris Hunter leading the audience in the "Pledge
To The Flag". Thanks to Chris for filling in for Tim
again this week! |

Wires & Wood kicked off their first set of the
evening with a couple of traditional bluegrass tunes
including "Boil 'em Cabbage Down". This band formed
in 2001 and have been going strong ever since.
Claiborne Woodall of Abingdon, Virginia plays guitar
and is the newest of the group. Randy Jackson plays
fiddle and lives in Bristol, Virginia. Mark Mervis is
also from Bristol, Virginia and picks the upright electric
bass. Eric McMurray comes from Gate City, Virginia
and plays the banjo. Visit
www.wiresandwood.com for more information about this
great group of guys. |

| We also had a group of cloggers with us this evening.
The Mountain Rhythm Cloggers danced along with the
bands during parts of the show. This was just a handful of
the members of this wonderful clogging company. In
attendance were Tom & Carolyn Jarrell, Tammy
Potter, Mary Johnson, Pam Buchanan,
J.D. Vance, Mandy Barker and Juli Blue. |

The Minton Family also took the stage for a few
numbers. "Love, Please Come Home" and "Long Black
Veil" were a couple of the standards they played along
with the
Bob Dylan
tune "Wagonwheel".
The Minton Family is very popular here at the Pickin'
Porch and we're always glad to have them entertain us
awhile. Danny Minton plays guitar, Erin Minton
plays bass, on mandolin is Garrett Minton and
Jessie Minton rounds out the band on fiddle. |

Valley Grass, a group from the Rich Valley area
of Virginia, treated the crowd to several wonderful Gospel
tunes. Many members of this band attend the same church.
The band members include Raymond Campbell on guitar
and vocals, Will Campbell playing guitar and mandolin
and singing vocals, C.J. Hubble on mandolin, Lib
Burress and Melinda Davis both singing vocals,
Sherry Jones on mandolin and singing vocals, Heather
Gillespie playing bass and singing vocals, and Bill
Charles on vocals. |

| Jeff Blackburn stopped by "The Porch" to
entertain the crowd as well. He was joined by Mark Mervis,
Randy Jackson and Eric McMurray of Wires &
Wood. They played several songs including the beautiful
tune "Majestic". |

Well, that's it for the recap of tonight's Pickin'
Porch Show. Please come by the Bristol Mall next
Thursday when
The Moron Brothers and
Robbie Spencer
are scheduled to perform.
