Highlights from March 29, 2007
Tim kicked off tonight's Pickin' Porch Show by leading the audience in the "Pledge To The Flag", then he proceeded to remind everyone about several upcoming shows and events including the unveiling of the new William "Billy" Sage exhibit (April 12), "An Afternoon With Tater Tate" (April 15) and the next Song of the Mountains concert (April 7).

Wonderful husband and wife duo Bill & Maggie Anderson got the evening's musical entertainment underway with a fine set of Bluegrass and Classic Country favorites such as "Little Mountain Church House", "Wabash Cannonball" and the Carter Family classic "Keep On The Sunny Side".

Bill and Maggie had already picked and sang on the Pickin' Porch Show at least once before, and they were just as entertaining tonight as they were the first time!

Next up was the highly popular Mac Puckett with our own Tim and Teddy Helton helping out on banjo and bass respectively. Mac has a distinctive singing style that sets him apart from other Bluegrass singers, and as usual he wowed the audience this evening with his amazing vocal gymnastics!

Tim invited Roy Mullins to come up on stage and play a tune on his trusty harmonica, and Roy returned the favor by asking Tim to play along with him. He did, and the result was a very pretty instrumental rendition of "Keep On The Sunny Side".

The hilarious Ed Carter treated the audience to a couple of his now-famous jokes, and as always he managed to come up with some pretty interesting facial expressions. Ed would still crack you up even if you didn't hear a word he said!

Finishing off the evening was a group of super-talented youngsters known as Gold Heart. The Gold sisters range in age from 11 to 17, but you would never know it by their amazing pickin' and singin'!

They treated the audience to some of the finest family harmony I have ever heard on one great song after another, leaving the crowd wanting to hear a lot more when the show came to an end. Gold Heart has a bright future ahead of them in the Bluegrass world, and we hope to see them on the Pickin' Porch stage again real soon!

Well, it was yet another fun and exciting evening at the Pickin' Porch with plenty of music and comedy for all to enjoy. Next week's show featuring Lightnin' Charlie and Appalachian Trail promises to be a real barn burner, so why not come on out to the Bristol Mall next Thursday and join in the fun?
