Highlights
from April 10, 2008 |
| Tim White was back at "The Porch" this week, and
after a few announcements he lead everyone in the "Pledge
To The Flag". Please keep all of our soldiers and their
families in your thoughts and prayers. |

| Tonight's show began with a special treat. Ian
McGowan from Ireland stopped by and played a few tunes
for the crowd. He played "Up A Lazy River" and
"Windy And Warm". |

| Ian was joined by Heather Dotterweich who now
considers Bristol, Tennessee her home. Heather sang two
Irish ballads "The Mountains Of Mourne" and "The
Homes Of Donegal". |

|
Acoustic Heritage from Damascus, Virginia took the
stage next. This great band consists of Tim Yates on
guitar and Debbie Yates playing banjo and fiddle
along with Mark Rose on bass. They picked several
numbers including "Frankie and Johnny", "Carolina
In The Pines" and "Shady Grove". |

| Tim, Debbie and Mark were joined by Mia Friedman
on fiddle. Mia hails from Boston, Massachusetts, and she was
down this way working on a school project. Mia joined
Acoustic Heritage on several numbers and sang lead on the
Bluegrass standard "Cindy". Mia and her mom Joyce are
headed to Galax, Virginia next. |

| Molly & Sadie Yates agreed to sing and pick a few
songs for the crowd. Molly played the mandolin and guitar
while Sadie played the banjo. These two young ladies sure
entertained the audience, and I bet we'll see a lot more of
these gals in the years to come. |

| Next up was Tazewell, Virginia's phenom "Banjo Joe"
Bevins. Joe is a real musician. He agreed to pick and
sing for us even though he was not feeling well. Now that's
a true lover of Bluegrass music! This talented young man
played the crowd favorite "Rocky Top" among a handful
of others. |

| Banjo Joe asked his Kinfolk to finish up his set.
They consisted of his mother and father Phil Bevins, Jr
and Teressa Bevins of Tazewell, Virginia along with
his grandparents Phil Bevins, Sr and Kaye Bevins
of Princeton, West Virginia and Charly Markwart from
the great state of Michigan. They played several wonderful
numbers including "Molly And Tenbrooks" and
"Sitting On Top Of The World". |

| Tim White, Mac Puckett, Teddy Helton
and Mia Friedman finished out this weeks Pickin
Porch Show with three wonderful tunes: "Love, Please
Come Home", "Dream Of A Miner's Child", and
"Will The Circle Be Unbroken", considered by many to be
the "National Anthem" of Old-Time Country music. |

Well, that rounds out another great evening here at
The Pickin Porch Show. Be sure to join us next week when
Shannon Wurst, Keeping Tradition and
Ronnie Williams are scheduled to perform.
