Highlights from May 10, 2007
Tim kicked off tonight's show as usual by leading the audience in the "Pledge to the Flag". Then, after proving to everyone that he can count all the way up to four, he invited us all to attend a special edition of The Pickin' Porch Show next Thursday at which he will be hosting a release party for his new CD entitled "Tim White with Banjo & Friends"!

The super-talented Skinner Family was back on the Pickin' Porch stage for the second week in a row, and as always they treated the appreciative audience to a bevy of great old Bluegrass standards including "John Henry" and "Nine Pound Hammer". They also took the time to honor The Carter Family with a very entertaining rendition of the timeless classic "Wildwood Flower".

Jason
also introduced us to the newest member of the band: Alexandra Miller, who now plays standup bass for the group. Welcome, Alexandra!

Young Alyssa Skinner has the Pickin' Porch audience wrapped around her little finger as evidenced by the way they applaud every time she takes a Dobro break! On the rare occasions when she sits out a song or two, she takes a seat on her stool and looks up at the rest of her family as they pick and sing - and everyone in the audience looks at her and smiles.

Now I have an apology to make. Up until tonight I have been spelling Zayn Skinner's name incorrectly. I'm very sorry about that Zayn! And by the way, that was quite a job you did pickin' "Rawhide" tonight!

Mr. Roy Mullins returned to the stage again this evening to give a beautiful performance of the old favorite "Carolina Moon". Roy always puts his heart into every performance, and The Pickin' Porch Show just wouldn't be the same without him!

Much to everyone's delight, banjo picker extraordinaire Robby Spencer was back tonight after a long absence from the Pickin' Porch stage. The better part of the second half of the show belonged to him, and he was in top form as he picked and sang many of the songs that he is so famous for. Robby is a great guy and a fine entertainer, and it was good to see him back on stage entertaining an audience!

Teddy Helton took a bit of ribbing from Tim over his recent mini-tour at Dollywood with his wonderful Celtic band Fire In The Kitchen. Teddy and "his women" had their picture taken with Dolly Parton, and of course Tim had to milk it for all the laughs it was worth! (Click here to see the "Picture of the Day" featuring the "Dolly" photo.)

The Comfort Systems USA Performance Center came alive with the sounds of twin banjos when Robby and Tim stepped up to the microphone and performed a rousing medley of barn-burning banjo tunes. These guys are two of the finest banjo pickers in the country, and they sure do sound great together!

At the end of the show, I was lucky enough to get a picture of two of the prettiest smiles in the Pickin' Porch audience! We'll see you gals next week!

Two pretty smiles!

Well, it was yet another very busy and entertaining evening at The Pickin' Porch Show, and next week's show is sure to be just as much fun when the highly-popular VW Boys take the stage. Tim will also be hosting a release party for his new CD, so why not come on out to the Bristol Mall and join in the fun?
