Highlights from July 26, 2007
As always, Tim got tonight's Pickin' Porch Show started by leading the audience in the "Pledge to the Flag" and reminding everyone about the upcoming Song Of The Mountains concert featuring David Holt and several other outstanding groups.

In honor of his good friends Tom and Sharon Palloway and their cats from way up north in Mt. Hope, Ontario, Canada, Tim hosted tonight's show decked out in a super-sharp black shirt featuring the familiar Canadian maple leaf logo along with the phrase "United Peoples Of Canada"!

The outstanding bluegrass band Appalachian Trail provided the musical entertainment for the entire show this evening, and as always they treated everyone to some of the very best pickin' and singin' we're likely to ever hear.

Tommy and Vickie Austin are two of the finest singers to ever step up to a microphone, and Tim Laughlin and Matthew Cruby each play several instruments with a level of skill and mastery that rivals anyone working in Nashville today. Combined, these wonderful folks' amazing talents make Appalachian Trail one of the finest musical groups in the country.

Every song they performed this evening was performed to perfection, but for me and a lot of others in the crowd the highlight of the entire show was Vickie's amazing performance of the late Joe Carter's "Tell Me Why". This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and in my opinion absolutely nobody on the planet could ever sing it as well as Vickie Austin!

There were a number of visitors in attendance this evening including Eva Nichols and Ruth Noiestrom, both of whom hail from the great state of Massachusetts. Tim invited them up onto the stage for a photo op, and the friendly pair were more than happy to oblige!

Resident funny man Ed Carter took the stage while Appalachian Trail took a short break, and in his usual fashion he proceeded to crack everyone up with one hilarious joke after another. Ed's corn-pone comedy has become a staple in the Pickin' Porch "diet", and he always leaves the crowd hungry for more!

After the show, Pickin' Porch regulars Suzy and Kristen posed in front of the stage with a couple of nice folks who were visiting from Florida: their Aunt Clara and Uncle Joe. The Pickin' Porch gang absolutely loves it when people visit from other parts of the country and around the globe!

Tonight's Pickin' Porch Show was easily one of the best ever, which is really no big surprise since Appalachian Trail was on the stage. We invite you to join us again next week when Ronnie Williams brings his very own flavor of the Carter Family sound to the Birthplace of Country Music region!
