| Tim was running just a wee bit late this evening,
so the ever-popular Lightnin' Charlie graciously
agreed to fill in as host until he arrived on the scene.
After welcoming everyone to The Pickin' Porch Show,
Charlie led the audience in the "Pledge to the Flag"
and then introduced the evening's first guests... |
| Bill and Maggie Anderson have performed at the
Pickin' Porch several times, and as always they did an
outstanding job on some of the most beautiful old songs ever
written including "Golden Ring", "Touch Of The
Master's Hand", and the wonderful Carter Family
standard "Keep On The Sunny Side". Bill and Maggie
are wonderful singers and musicians, and they kept everyone
well-entertained for the better part of an hour! |
| Well, Tim made it to the Comfort Systems USA
Performance Center just in time to welcome a visitor who
had traveled quite a ways to get here. Dean is a very
friendly young fellow from Ireland who is visiting our
region and enjoying some of the more popular attractions -
and we're glad he decided to stop in at the Pickin' Porch
for a spell! |
Next up was the one and only
Lightnin' Charlie from Johnson City, Tennessee.
Charlie Dolinger is one of the most talented individuals I
have ever seen, and his performances always leave the
audience wanting to experience even more of his amazing
vocal and instrumental magic.
Charlie can pick and sing everything from Country to Rock n'
Roll to the Blues, and he does it all as well as anyone on
the planet. Tonight he delighted the audience with
exceptional performances of "Oh, Lonesome Me",
"1814", and a host of other favorites including the
Elvis Presley smash hit "Don't be Cruel".
Lightnin' Charlie is one of the most entertaining, yet
down-to-earth guys around, and if you have never seen him in
concert you're really missing out on something special! |
| Charlie invited our very own Teddy Helton to join
him on stage to help out on a few numbers, and the affable
Teddy was happy to oblige! It's a rare treat when two
people as talented and friendly as Charlie and Teddy take
the stage at the same time! |
| As if everyone hadn't already enjoyed enough great
entertainment to last a veritable lifetime, Charlie's lovely
wife Beth joined him on several wonderful gospel
tunes. Charlie and Beth have a pair of voices that
complement each other almost as much as they do, and when
they sing praises to the Lord it's really something to hear! |
| Tim and Teddy teamed up to finish the show by pickin' a
couple of tunes while Bill, Maggie, Charlie and Beth spent a
few minutes meeting and greeting a bunch of very
appreciative fans. |
Tonight's Pickin' Porch Show was one of the best
ever, but if you weren't able to make it out this evening
we'll do it all again next week when the ultra-talented
Skinner Family and Greg Cornett take the stage
and serve up a heapin' helpin' of fine musical entertainment
of their own!
