Robby
Spencer did a great job filling in for Tim
tonight, cracking jokes at every opportunity and making sure
everyone was having a good time. It was easy to see that he
really enjoyed his new role - and so did the audience! |

The evening's entertainment got underway with Lori
Carter joining Ronnie Williams and The Carter Family
Sound for a wonderful set packed with one great
Carter Family song after another. If you like The Carter
Family, watching these folks pick and sing their songs is a
real treat!
Lori obviously inherited more than her fair share of her
grandmother Maybelle Carter's amazing talent, and
Ronnie plays in the authentic Carter Family style as well as
anyone. Together, they thrilled the audience with excellent
performances of "Gold Watch And Chain", "Worried
Man Blues", "Wildwood Flower", "Keep On The
Sunny Side" and many more! |

| Lori's cousin Rita Forrester joined the gang on
stage to help sing the last few songs of their set. Although
she works tirelessly at her mission to carry on for her
precious mother Janette Carter at the Carter
Family Fold, this was the first time many of us had ever
heard Rita sing - and she did a great job of it! |

| Although Robby Spencer was hosting the show this
evening, he and "grandchild"
Teddy
Helton still performed their set as they always do
on The Pickin' Porch Show. We're used to seeing Teddy
play bass with Robby every week, but tonight he played
guitar as well... |

| And so did Robby - just not at the same time! Teddy and
Robby are both extremely versatile musicians who can play
just about anything with strings on it, and they used their
considerable talents tonight on several old favorites
including "Frankie & Johnny", "John Henry",
and a very beautiful instrumental version of "What A
Friend We have In Jesus". |

| Next up was the legendary E.C. Miller and Gold Rush
Review. E.C. is one of the country's best banjo players,
and it sure is fun watching him pick! He and the gang put on
a great show pickin' and singin' lots of wonderful old songs
and generally just having a good time up on the stage. |

| Near the end of the show, Robby bounded up onto the
stage to join E.C. for an exciting banjo duet of "Ole Joe
Clark", and the crowd really enjoyed watching two banjo
pickers of such high caliber pickin' together. We'll have to
see if we can't get them together again on the Pickin'
Porch stage sometime soon! |

Well, another exciting evening of family entertainment
has come and gone, but we'll be right back here next week
when the fine Bluegrass group Kentucky Rain will take
the stage for what promises to be a great show. Why not come
on out to the Bristol Mall and join us?
