Highlights from August 9, 2007
Tim kicked off tonight's show in the usual manner by leading the audience in the "Pledge To The Flag". He then proceeded to remind everyone about the upcoming Song Of The Mountains taping, the Bluegrass In The Smokies festival, and this week's show at the Carter Family Fold.

First up to entertain the crowd was an outstanding Bluegrass group from South Carolina: Ridge Hill Bluegrass Band. These guys really put on a great show by performing a long list of old favorites including "Rolling In My Sweet Baby's Arms", "Shucking The Corn", "Big Spike Hammer" and a whole lot more. Their performance was very well-received by the crowd, as evidenced by the thunderous calls for an encore when they started to walk off the stage!

Next up was resident funny man Ed Carter, who apparently decided that this was going to be "Dumb Blond Joke" night - and he let loose with a string of about four of them!

Up next to finish out the evening was a wonderful group from beautiful Scott County, Virginia. Pine Ridge Bluegrass Band had graced the Pickin' Porch stage once before, and once again they did an outstanding job pickin' and singin' "Gold Watch And Chain", "Rank Stranger", and "How Mountain Girls Can Love" as well as several other Bluegrass and Country music classics.

It was yet another wonderful evening at The Pickin' Porch Show, and with Addie Keene & Friends and The Fritz Family taking the stage, next week's show promises to be just as exciting. But don't take my word for it... come on out next Thursday and see for yourself what all the excitement is about.
