Pickin' Porch January 22, 2009

Chris Hunter filled in for Tim White this evening and after making a few announcements got the show underway.

Ridgeline www.myspace.com/jedpatterson was the first group to take the Pickin' Porch stage. Band members include Bill Dunham from Church Hill, Tennessee on bass, Chad Light of Johnson City, Tennessee on banjo, Jed Patterson from Kingsport, Tennessee playing guitar and Rich Pafford from Kingsport, Tennessee on mandolin. Ridgeline treated the crowd to instrumentals like Red-Haired boy and Frosty Morning and gospel tunes like Green Pastures.

Harley Hammonds & the Carters Valley Crab Grass www.localgrass.com/hammondsfamily  entertained the Pickin' Porch audience during the second portion of tonight's show. They picked great bluegrass numbers like Old Joe Clark, Foggy Mountain Breakdown and John Hardy. Band members were Harley Hammonds, age 13, of Church Hill, Tennessee playing mandolin and guitar, Tim Hammonds also of Church Hill, Tennessee on rhythm guitar, Terry Wade from Kingsport, Tennessee playing bass and Josh Hamm of Bluff City, Tennessee on banjo. Josh Hamm filled-in for the regular banjo player for the group. Look for Josh picking with the band Lonesome Drive. Amanda Hammonds usually plays fiddle and sings vocals for the group but she was a bit under the weather tonight. Get well soon Amanda!

That wraps up another Pickin' Porch Thursday. Stop by next week when the Scott County Boys are scheduled to perform.
