Pickin' Porch January 29, 2009

Tim White was back this week at the "porch" and after a few announcements got the show started.

The Scott County Boys began tonight's entertainment. Kenneth, Steve, Dwayne and David gave the crowd lots of bluegrass standards like "Pretty Girl", "Orange Blossom Special" and "Foggy Mountain Breakdown". If you want to hear some great pickin' drop by the Carter Family Fold www.carterfamilyfold.org on April 11, 2009 and check them out.

Murphy White dropped by the Pickin' Porch stage and treated the crowd to an old Ron Green tune " Song for my Friends". Murphy is a resident of Bristol, Tennessee and is the son of Tim White.

Our good friend "Lonesome" Will Mullins pleased the audience with several numbers. "Good & Greasy" and "I've Got a Mule to Ride" were two of the clawhammer-style banjo tunes he performed. He also sang an a cappella song in honor of his Grandmother, "Gone Away With a Friend".  Will and his band the Virginia Playboys www.myspace.com/lonesomewillmullinsandthevirginiaplayboys will be at the Carter Family Fold on May 2, 2009.

Teddy Helton www.fire-in-the-kitchen.com and Tim White www.songofthemountains.org joined Lonesome Will on a few tunes.

That wraps up this weeks "Pickin' Porch Show". Join us next week when Overdrive Bluegrass from East Tennessee State University and Red Head Express from Alaska are scheduled to perform.
