Hosted by Tim White

Pickin' Porch March 19, 2009

Tim White was back this week and feeling much better. He mentioned several up-coming shows in our region including the Spring Gospel Show at the Carter Fold www.carterfamilyfold.org  and the April Song of the Mountains performances www.songofthemountains.org.

Jim Gates and the Keykeepers were tonight's main entertainment. They treated the crowd to numerous country standards in the first part of their show and the second half of the evening was committed solely to gospel songs. They have a fabulous gospel CD that includes many well known traditional gospel tunes such as "Down by the riverside" and "Where could I go but to the Lord". Contact the Mountain Music Museum in the Bristol Virginia Mall or www.bluegrassstore.com if you're interested in purchasing this great album.
Band members include Lyle Egan playing guitar from Scott County Virginia...
Zane Egan playing tambourine from Scott County Virginia...
Horace Egan from Scott County Virginia on bass guitar...
Wayne Bishop from Duffield, Virginia playing guitar...
Jim Gates playing guitar from Duffield, Virginia...
Marilyn Gates from Duffield, Virginia helped out on vocals...
Tommy Shortt www.myspace.com/tommyshortt from Duffield, Virginia dropped by the Pickin' Porch stage and gave Jim Gates and the Keykeepers a well deserved break. Tommy entertained the audience with three tunes- "Murder on music row", "I don't go around mirrors" and "This little light of mine".
Ingrid Szauter, our good friend from Canada was in town promoting her new book "My Life".
That wraps up this week's Pickin' Porch Show. Join us next week when Jonas Riley & Bluegrass Messengers are scheduled to be here.
