Chris Hunter hosted the show this week, and after a few quick announcements he got the show underway.

The first band to take the stage this evening was The Mountain Music Makers. This group comes from the Big Stone Gap area of Virginia. Band members include Joey O'Quinn, Bobby O'Quinn, Ann McDavid, Dawn Bays, Larry Mullins, Bill Newman and Mary Lou Carter. They picked several Bluegrass instrumentals and Old-Time mountain songs including the Carter Family classic "Keep on the Sunny Side".

Also picking here at "the porch" tonight were our good friends from Ontario, Canada Ingrid & Daniel Szauter. They were down this way visiting with friends and the Carter Family Fold. They always put on a great show, and they entertained the crowd this evening with lots of Carter Family tunes.

Tonight marked the 53rd year of Ingrid's migration from her homeland in Austria to Canada. In 1998 she traveled to a wedding at the Sea of Galilee, where she met Kingsport, Tennessee resident Jane Wade. They soon became fast friends and Jane invited Ingrid and her family to visit them in Tennessee. In 1999, "The Canadians" as we lovingly call them came to East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for a vacation. The Wades took them to a show at the Carter Family Fold where they fell in love with our music and our hospitality.
