Tim White was back at The Pickin' Porch tonight, and he got the show started by leading the crowd in the "Pledge To The Flag" and reminding us about upcoming Bluegrass events in the area. You can find out about future shows and concerts at our favorite websites: www.songofthemountains.org, www.carterfamilyfold.org, and www.localgrass.com.

Doug & Derrick Darter were first to perform tonight. This father/son duo are from Gate City and really know how to play Old-Time Mountain Music. They played tunes such as "Wreck Of The Old '97", "The Railroad Blues" and the old gospel number "Will There Be Any Stars In My Crown".

Next up was Grassy Ridge Band from Southwest Virginia. Band members include Rita Thweat playing banjo, Ricky McReynolds on mandolin, Brad Puckett on guitar, Lloyd Blevins playing bass, Charlie Holliday playing guitar and Johnny Blevins singing vocals. They treated the audience to a variety of Country and Bluegrass songs including "Sitting On Top Of The World", "More Than A Name On A Wall", and "I've Been Everywhere" made famous by the late, great Johnny Cash.

Stop by next week when Beth Stevens and Edge will be performing and celebrating the release of their latest album entitled "Strong Enough" on Pinecastle Records.
