Frank Carmack opened tonight's program by leading the audience in the "Pledge To The Flag". He reminded everyone of the upcoming Song of the Mountains show at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Saturday, November 15, and the Gospel Festival at the Carter Fold, Sunday, November 16.

On a sad note, Chris Hunter, who MC's the Pickin Porch, lost his mother Wednesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris and his family. His mother, Anna Lee Ramey Shupe, loved Bluegrass music and Chris brought her to the show every Thursday until her health took its toll.

Frank introduced The Virginia Mountains Boys. They play most Mondays nights at the Smyth County Jam in Chilhowie. This talented group play music from the early days of Bill Monroe and Reno and Smiley. They sang many favorites such as "When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold", "Freeborn Man", "Haven't Seen Mary In Years", "Lighthouse Blues", "It Take One To Know One", "I'm Using My Bible For A Road Map", "Beautiful Life", and "Little Bit Of Rock And Roll".

Larry Blevins plays mandolin. He sang "Blue Moon Of Kentucky" and dedicated it to Bill Monroe.

Don Blevins plays guitar. Don and Larry are brothers and have played with Reno and Smiley and Bill Monroe.

Mike Goodman plays banjo. Mike also plays with Fescue.

Jordan Blevins plays fiddle. He is the son of Don and the nephew of Larry. Talent runs in this family. Jordan also plays with Fescue.

Bryan Osborne comes from West Jefferson, NC, and plays the bass.

Join us next week for the Grassy Ridge Band.
