Tonight's Pickin' Porch Show is dedicated to Tommy Carroll, a true Bluegrass friend. Tommy passed away this past Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the age of 71. He was a constant at all of our Pickin' Porch Shows and you could find him most anywhere there was Bluegrass playing. He will truly be missed. Heaven has surely gained another angel.

Tim White got tonight's show underway with a few announcements about local Bluegrass happenings in the area. Check out these websites for more information: www.songofthemountains.org and www.carterfamilyfold.org.

The first group up tonight was The Skinner Family Band from Bluff City, Tennessee. They're always a crowd favorite and played lots of great tunes like the Jim & Jesse McReynolds number "Are You Missing Me" and the instrumental "Rawhide". Band members include Jason Skinner playing banjo, Jennifer Skinner on guitar, Zayn Skinner (13) on mandolin, Alyssa Skinner (10) playing dobro and Teddy Helton playing bass.

The A.C.M.A presented Danny Minton of the "Heritage In Music" program with two new fiddles. These fiddles were given in honor of Mrs. Anna Shupe, a beloved Pickin' Porch regular who passed away last month. The "Heritage in Music" program gives instruments and music lessons to children in the area.

Tommy Shortt, Tim White, Mac Puckett, Zayn Skinner, Jason Skinner and Teddy Helton entertained the crowd at halftime.

Last to take the stage was Adam Larkey & Mountain Time. The band consists of Adam Larkey (12) playing fiddle, Josh Doss playing guitar, Josh Ham on banjo, Matt Doss on bass and Joe Honeycutt playing mandolin. These guys played some great Bluegrass tunes like "Nine Pound Hammer" and "Rag Time Annie" and a beautiful rendition of "Tennessee Waltz".

Sarah Grace Larkey, age 7, joined her brother onstage and sang a song entitled "I Miss You". This tune was written by Miley Cyrus in honor of her grandfather.

Join us next week when The VW Boys and Art Lang & Cathy Ciolac are scheduled to perform.
