Highlights from December 28, 2006
After leading the audience in the "Pledge To The Flag", Tim delivered a bit of bad news: His sister Pam and her family lost virtually everything they had when their home burned to the ground on Christmas Eve. But thanks to the heroic efforts of Tim, Penny and the brave firefighters on the scene, the family's beloved pet pot-bellied pig was safely rescued. We ask that you please keep Tim, Penny, Pam and her wonderful family in your prayers.

First up tonight was the outstanding group The Midnight Ramblers, four teenagers from southwestern Virginia who pick and sing Bluegrass Music as well as anyone in the business. They spent the entire first hour of the show treating the audience to a number of wonderful old classics as well as several fine original tunes including "The Crooked Road Song", a tribute to "Virginia's Heritage Music Trail" that follows Highway 58 across the scenic countryside of southwestern Virginia.

Scott County, Virginia native A.J. Roach was "back home" spending the holiday season with family and friends, and he graciously took a few moments to sing a couple of songs for us, including the ever-popular "Granddaddy", a loving tribute to his grandfather.

It seemed like the great music would never stop flowing tonight! As always, Fescue put on a great show as they performed hit after hit including "Fox On The Run", "Rawhide", "The Orange Blossom Special", and the haunting ballad simply entitled "The Cave". Fescue is known far and wide for their fine vocals and superb instrumentals, and they used both to perfection tonight!

Mr. Roy Mullins dropped by again tonight to insert a bit of Christmas cheer into the festivities by playing "Silent Night" on his harmonica. Roy always does a good job when he takes the Pickin' Porch stage, but his performance tonight was simply outstanding.

It was great to see long-time Pickin' Porch fans Fielden and Eula back in the audience tonight. They have been unable to make it out to the show for the past 3 months or so, but tonight they were able to come - and they looked better than ever! Welcome back!

The action inside the Comfort Systems USA Performance Center was fast-paced and non-stop tonight with plenty of great music from start to finish.
