Tim White got this week's show started by reminding
everyone about the upcoming
34th Annual Carter Family Fold Festival on Friday,
August 1 and Saturday, August 2, 2008 and the
Song of the Mountains concert series taping on Saturday,
August 2.
He also announced that
Deering Banjos has signed on as a major underwriter for
the Song of the Mountains. He proudly showed off this new
Deering Calico banjo.

| First to take the stage tonight were Ronnie Williams,
Teddy Helton and Lori Carter Bennett (daughter
of Anita Carter and grand-daughter of Maybelle
Carter). With the Forgetmenots pickin' along,
they treated the crowd to several old
Carter Family numbers including two of their most
famous tunes: "Keep On The Sunny Side" and "Will
The Circle Be Unbroken". |

| Next up were a fantastic young group from Russia.
Country Saloon had the entire audience clapping to
songs like "Calling Baton Rouge" and "Get On Your
Horse". Band members included Michael Dushin on
banjo, Tatiana Pechenova playing mandolin, Elena
Evsikova playing fiddle, Vladimir Belyakov on
guitar and Ilya Yudin on the bass. |

| The last few minutes of the program, our good friends
from Canada took the stage and entertained the crowd with
the songs "Farside Banks Of Jordan" and "Follow Me
Back To The Fold", a tune written by Tom T. and
Dixie Hall about the
Carter Family Fold, a special place to anyone that's
ever visited there. The
Forget-me-nots - or as the folks at The Pickin'
Porch Show lovingly call them, "The Canadians"
include Ingrid, Daniel, Carrie,
Darlene, Elise and Susi. |
