Tim White began tonight's show in usual fashion by leading everyone in the "Pledge To The Flag". He reminded the audience of several upcoming musical events in the area including "Pickin In The Gap" at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee which will feature Balsam Range, Pine Mountain Railroad, Highway 11 and Gold Heart. Tickets can be purchased at the Mountain Music Museum in the Bristol Mall. For more information please call 423-378-5942.


 
Addie Keene & Friends took the Pickin' Porch stage first this evening. Addie and friends Tom Ratliff on dobro, Bruce Knight playing guitar and Mike Smith on bass reside in the Kingsport, Tennessee region. They entertained the crowd with tunes like "Pretty Words", "New Patches" and the country hit "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man" by Loretta Lynn. They will be at Natural Tunnel's "Pickin In The Park" on August 24, 2008. If you are in the area stop by and enjoy their show.

Next to take the stage were Tim White on guitar, Teddy Helton playing bass, Jason & Zayn Skinner on banjo and mandolin and Dan Kessinger on fiddle.

The final group of the evening was Dave Matthews & The Sunset Valley Boys. Band members include Dave Matthews from Barren Springs, Virginia on guitar, Dennis Matthews from Tazewell, Virginia on banjo, Buford Dunford of Wythe County, Virginia playing guitar and Patty Callahan of Marion, Virginia on the dog-house bass. Dave and "the boys" treated the crowd to numbers like "Tennessee" and "It Takes One To Know One".


Our friend from across the ocean "Frank" stopped by "the porch" to enjoy some of the great music the "Birthplace of Country Music" is known for.
