Tim White was running late this evening so Chris Hunter stepped in and got the show started in the usual manner by leading us in the "Pledge To The Flag".

The Cherokee Mountain Boys was the first group to take the Pickin' Porch stage. These guys hail from the Tennessee counties of Unicoi and Washington. Joe Adkins and Robert Greene both played guitar, Ron Duncan played mandolin, Frank Culler picked the dog-house bass and Terry Tester rounded out the group on banjo.

They entertained the audience with such Bluegrass standards as "Ole Joe Clark", "Kickin' Mule" and "Ruby". They also played numbers like "Golden Ring" made famous by country superstars George Jones and Tammy Wynette.

Chick-fil-A Chicks Christina and Caitlin joined Tim onstage and told the crowd about one of the Pickin' Porch's finest sponsors. Chick-fil-A feeds the bands each Thursday and also helps at special concerts and fundraisers. A big thanks to Chick-fil-A & Ray Parlier located in the upper level of the Bristol Mall!

Next up was Big Country Bluegrass. This fine band has been together for a number of years, and they aren't slowing down a bit!

The band consists of husband and wife team Tommy & Teresa Sells (mandolin and guitar respectively) from Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, Jeff Michael (fiddle) of Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Johnny Williams (guitar) of Danville, Virginia, Lynwood Lunsford (banjo) from Cascade, Virginia and Alan Mastin (bass) of Fries, Virginia.

If you would like to learn more about this great band or purchase some of their music, visit their website for more information or you can get their latest CD's at the Mountain Music Museum & Gift Shop in the Bristol Mall or online at www.bluegrassstore.com.
