Tim White began tonight's program by leading the crowd in the "Pledge To The Flag". He reminded everyone of the upcoming festival in Lansing, NC. The Ola Belle Reed Festival runs August 15-17 and features performers like The Dixie Bee Liners, Whitetop Mountain Band, Jeff Little and others.


 
Lightnin' Charlie took the stage first this evening and treated the audience to several tunes. Charlie is well known for his diversity of music genres and he performed songs from Elvis to Gene Autry.

Lightnin' also has an autobiography entitled "Off the record - The trials and tribulations of a travelin' troubadour". Go to Charlie's website, stop by the Mountain Music Museum and Giftshop in the Bristol Mall or log on to www.bluegrassstore.com to purchase your copy.

Pine Ridge Bluegrass from Gate City, VA completed this weeks Pickin' Porch Show. The band members include Wanda Butte on bass, Trevor White playing banjo and guitar, on mandolin David Butte, and playing guitar was Ernie Butte. They picked tunes like "Are You Missing Me" made famous by Jim and Jesse McReynolds who were born and raised near Coeburn, VA as well as several songs by local Bluegrass superstars Ralph and Carter Stanley.



The Pickin' Porch's own J.C. Price joined Pine Ridge Bluegrass on the song "The Fields Have Turned Brown".
