| Highlights
from the Sussex Avenue Fiddlers show - February 29, 2008 |
| This past Saturday evening Ivan Hicks and the
Sussex Avenue Fiddlers dropped by the Pickin' Porch
for a special performance. They are celebrating their 30th
anniversary of playing "Down East Style" fiddle. If you
missed this show, The Song of the Mountains in Marion,
Virginia is hosting another concert on March 11, 2008. For
more information go to
www.songofthemountains.org. |

| Ivan Hicks is the director of the Sussex
Avenue Fiddlers, and he has been playing music for 60
years. In 1990 he was inducted into the North American
Fiddler's Hall of Fame, and he actively teaches and
promotes the Old-Time Music he loves to play. |

| The group had several wonderful "Steppers". Fernande
Goguen is showing the audience an example of "Canadian
Stepping". |

| The crowd really enjoyed the great fiddle tunes and fine
dancing. |

| They also had a few guitar pickers in the group. Jack
Bulmer plays "Daisy A Day". |

| The youngest performer on the stage was probably
Emily deArcos. At just 11 years of age, Emily is already
an accomplished musician, dancer, and singer. Here she is
playing "Twist Of The Bow". |

| Geraldine Charters sings "Tennessee Waltz". |

| George Boone plays a tune called "The Working
Man". |

| The fiddlers took a well deserved break and laid their
instruments down for a few minutes. |

| Allison & Alexander Landry and Emily deArcos
played "When The Saints Go Marching In" on the
harmonica. |

| Jerry Babineau treated us to a number on the
keyboard. |

| Fernande and Laurie Belliveau played the audience
the tune "Beautiful Bouquet". |

| Jeannine Despres performs "The French Song"
where she sings in both English and French. |

| Joyce Lindsey sings the wonderful Cajun-style
number "Louisiana Saturday Night". |

| Crystal Jones bows the tune "Devil's Dream". |

| Allison, Alexander and Emily do one more
step dance for the crowd. |

Thanks for stopping by this week. This coming Thursday
we're scheduled to have Ted Jones & The Tar Heel Boys
and Robby Spencer perform.
